Friday May 16th

Our second day in Killarney, another beautiful day,

was dedicated to visiting another two Presentation Convents, this time in Castleisland and Tralee,  both in Kerry.  At Castleisland we were again welcomed with tea, coffee and scones and also Apple tart all served up on table cloths which featured Australian wild flowers to make us feel at home.

The sisters had arranged for the principals of the local primary and secondary schools to join us so we had time to discuss the differences and similarities between our schools and then have a tour of both schools.

I couldn't resist this poster.

In Tralee we met with a friend of one of our group and, as well as showing us the convent and schools,

she took us for a quick tour of Tralee, which included a display dedicated to the winners of the Rose of Tralee.  It turns out that one of the teachers from St Rita’s College in Brisbane (represented in our group) was the winner in 2006. Queensland actually had two winners featured in this international competition.
